“Coffee in Good Spirits" is a term that melts the rich traditions of coffee culture with the world of mixology. For those unfamiliar, it refers to a distinct competition and genre in the coffee industry, similar to "barista," "brewing," "cupping," and "latte art," where skilled baristas and/or bartenders create innovative and delicious coffee-based cocktails. This concept goes beyond simply adding a splash of alcohol to a cup of coffee. It is about creating harmonious drinks that elevate both: coffee and spirits.

Participants in CIGS competitions are tasked with mixing unique drinks that highlight the best qualities of both components. This could mean balancing the complex flavors of coffee with the subtle notes of different liquors, or it could involve inventing entirely new beverages that surprise the palate.

The beauty of "Coffee in Good Spirits" lies in its ability to push the boundaries of traditional coffee and cocktail making. Competitors on national or international competitions, Baristas or Bartenders are not just making Irish coffee for example, they are using a wide range of techniques, ingredients, and presentations to impress the judges or customers with an innovative taste, they never had before. This can include creative garnishes and innovative flavor pairings that one might not usually associate with coffee or cocktails. Moreover, it opens up new possibilities for coffee lovers and challenges the professionals to think outside the box. CIGS also serves as a platform for sharing knowledge and techniques in the own coffee scene or as we do it at GOTA: bringing national and international Champions together and create even more flavors, learn from each other’s skills and of course have a great time together.

Coffee in Good Spirits shows how traditional drinks like Espresso Martini, Irish Coffee or Coffee Negroni can be reinvented through creativity and skill, resulting in exciting new experiences for consumers. Whether you are a coffee enthusiast, a cocktail lover, or simply someone curious about new culinary trends. The world of "Coffee in Good Spirits" has definitely something unique to offer. It combines flavor, creativity, and the joy of discovering something new in a familiar cup.
